Hotel Review: Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino, Santo Domingo (DR)

“Good service, but rooms could use a facelift”
As stated above, the standout for this hotel is in its services. All the workers that I encountered at the Jaragua were quite friendly and more than willing to assist in any way possible. The primary reason I’m giving it 3, rather than 4 out of 5 is that the rooms seemed somewhat outdated compared to the price paid. Though the rooms are clean, and the bed was comfortable, our room was missing the updated décor and amenities that are usually provided at similarly priced hotels.

Pros:
-great location (right on the Malecon and in close proximity to the Zona Colonial)
-prompt, friendly service from staff
-ample seating around pool

Cons:
-outdated rooms
-parking can be difficult when they are hosting large events (weddings, conferences)
-drinks at the hotel bar/poolside bar are expensive

*Quick tip: If you want internet service in your room, go to the lobby and connect to the free wifi. It will then give you a 24 hr passcode that you can use to connect with when you return to your room.

Value: 3/5
Location: 4/5
Sleep Quality: 4/5
Rooms: 3/5
Cleanliness: 3/5
Service: 4/5

Overall Score: 3/5
