In Medellin, it can be a bit difficult to find healthier dining alternatives as you’re generally surrounded by arepas, empanadas, and other deep-fried goodies. So it came as a refreshing surprise when the roommates and I found our way to Naturalia Cafe/Restaurant.
Located in the heart of Laureles, a few steps from Calle 70 (Circular 3 #70-39), you’ll find this unique artisanal cafe/restaurant where fresh, natural ingredients form the base of all their delicious menu items.
Though they specialize in vegetarian dishes, they also have meat/protein-based options (with a healthy twist) available on their menu. Everything on their menu, including natural juices, coffees, and alcohol has a light, refreshing quality that makes the overall flavor profile of their menu stand out from the local competitors.
Trying out the locally brewed Colombian beers
If you even remotely enjoy drinking rum, you definitely owe it to yourself to buy yourself a jar of Veinte de Julio. A Medellin rum that is easily one of the tastiest rums I’ve had in in recent memory!
During an extended stay in Medellin, it’s quite normal to start craving some lighter/healthier dining options. Due to the combination of very affordable prices and use of quality ingredients, Naturalia is the option that I would most highly recommend to sate those cravings.
