One of the things I love most about traveling is that every street, temple, and neighborhood has a story waiting to be discovered. A beautiful view can capture our attention, but it is often the history, culture, and personal stories behind a place that make it truly memorable.
Over the years, I have included interesting facts, historical details, and cultural insights in the subtitles of my walking tours. These additions were created because I wanted viewers to experience not only what a destination looks like, but also understand why these places are meaningful.
However, I came to realize that many viewers enjoy these videos as an immersive experience — listening to the sounds of the streets, taking in the scenery, and feeling as if they are walking in my shoes. Since subtitles require actively stopping to read (taking the attention away from the content of the video), I wanted to create another way to share these stories without taking away from that experience.
That’s why I’m excited to introduce a new series of Narrated Walking Tours.
These videos combine the peaceful, immersive style of my original walking tours with storytelling, history, and cultural insights woven throughout the journey. My hope is that they allow you to discover something new — whether it’s a small historical detail, an interesting tradition, or a deeper appreciation for the places we explore together.
The first episode takes us to one of Tokyo’s most iconic destinations: Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa. While many visitors recognize its famous Kaminarimon Gate and beautiful temple grounds, there is so much more to discover about its history, traditions, and role in Tokyo’s culture.
I hope this new style of video gives you a different way to experience these destinations and inspires you to look beyond the surface of the places we visit.
