Just wanted to give props to Han-Kwang Nienhuys over at The Lagom LCD monitor test pages for providing an excellent, in-depth tutorial on manually calibrating your monitor.
I’ve always known that my monitor settings were on the bright side, but did not realize the importance of correct calibration until I recently ordered some 11″x14″ prints (as you may guess, most of my images returned too dark).
On the site, he goes into great detail regarding what we’re actually trying to calibrate (ie. contrast ratio, brightness, gamma levels, sharpness), then provides a simple, yet effective tutorial.
